Bebe Q4 sales rise; sees strong profit

Thu Jul 7, 2011 - Women's apparel retailer Bebe stores Inc (BEBE.O) posted a 7 percent rise in quarterly sales as more fashion-conscious women shopped at its stores, and it expects profit to be at the high end of its estimates.

Bebe, which caters mainly to 18- to 25-year-olds, posted sales of $122.4 million.

It saw comparable sales for the quarter rise 7 percent, compared with a decrease of 3.4 percent in the same quarter last year.

The company had earlier forecast earnings of $0.01-$0.04 cents per share for the fourth quarter.

Analysts on average were expecting earnings of 3 cents per share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Shares of the Brisbane, California-based retailer closed at $6.74 on Wednesday on Nasdaq.
