Ebay to launch Fashion Outlet in the US

After having tested the new concept in the UK in April, the American website has announced that it is ready to launch its virtual outlet shopping mall in the US on September the 19th. Called Fashion Outlet, the website will start off by offering clothes and accessories made by Fila, Timberland, Neiman Marcus, Brooks Brothers, Bluefly, among others. In the UK, around 30 brands already sell their products on this shopping platform.

This launch comes at a time when competition between online sales websites is becoming fiercer in the American market, with the recent arrival of giant French flash-sales site Vente-Privée.com at the end of last year, the launch of MyHabit.com by Amazon, and that is without mentioning the other already-established websites like Gilt, HauteLook or Rue La La.

Fashion Outlet will allow eBay to focus its business around fashion and boost its number of professional sellers. This new direction could lead the American website to cross the 10 billion revenue mark.
